Material Handler

Summary of Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Shipping department, this role is responsible for:

  • Handling all materials required for Press operations and other production areas – mainly consisting of skids of paper, other raw and finished materials

  • Constantly moving skids and large materials from one operation to the next

  • Filing of all trend-folds

  • Cross-training provided to receive goods when necessary

  • Lifting heavy cartons of paper and other materials

  • Use of pump truck is constant

  • Use of forklift is occasional – forklift license is required

  • Assist with inventory management and physical counts

  • Other related tasks and projects as required

Experience:

  • Experience lifting heavy material – e.g lifting cartons of paper and other materials

  • Experience performing repetitive work – e.g. moving skids and large materials

  • Experience using pump trucks and forklifts

  • Previous Material Handling experience is considered an asset

Abilities:

  • Customer service oriented and solution driven

  • Strong attention to detail and able read docket requirements

  • Strong communication skills to effectively correspond with supervisors and department management

  • Organization and self-motivated

  • Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs

  • Ability to learn on-line stock ordering tools and online docket systems to print orders

  • Able to remain calm under pressure, work quickly and work well with others

Knowledge:

  • Forklift training / license is required

  • Knowledge of safe lifting procedures is required
