Cutter Operator (Nights)

Summary of Responsibilities:

The Cutter Operator will perform the day-to-day activities required to retrieve and cut products to job specifications and return products properly labeled and skidded. Activities involve cutting and trimming of paper and printed products, cutting equipment and providing backup on various bindery machines as required. Tasks as include:

  • Cutting stock to the specifications defined

  • Label, package and deliver stock

  • Assure products are correct and cut on time

  • Change cutter blades on a need be basis

  • Complete the preventative maintenance as defined for the year and dictated by production management

  • Retrieve products for cutting from the WIP area for cutting and delivers to the appropriate location with all the proper identification

  • Fulfill production data entry and record cutting counts accurately in the production system

  • Respect and abide all Health & Safety policies, as well as all safety checks on equipment

  • Responsible to communicate and provide complete details of schedules and job information for co-workers on shift change

Hours of Work: (Nights) Monday - Thursday: 7:00 pm - 6:00 am


  • Minimum 5 years related experience using similar bindery equipment in a commercial print environment

  • Experience operating a knife in a busy, high demand print enviornment, with a high degree of accuracy

  • Experience with other bindery equipment is an asset

  • Experience working in a formal Quality or ISO environment is considered an asset


  • Customer Service oriented

  • Strong English communication skills, oral and written

  • Excellent organizational skills

  • Attention to detail and quality consciousness are essential

  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds

  • Able to read and understand instructions, follow ISO procedures, and work with minimal supervision

  • Able to work well independently and in a team environment

  • Able to meet deadlines and work under pressure

  • Able to work flexible hours in order to accommodate day-to-day requirements

  • Able to work unsupervised and maintain a high level of quality output required

  • Flexible and able to assist bindery team to meet its goals.


  • Knowledge of various bindery equipment is essential

  • Knowledge of Lowe-Martin’s procedures is considered an asset

  • Basic computer skills and math skills

  • Excellent reading, writing and comprehension in the English language

  • Knowledge of ISO procedures and Lowe-Martin policies an asset.
